Pre kids- I thought drive thru's were the pinacle of lazy. How hard is it to park, walk 20 feet, and enter a store for something?
Then I had kids. Now if an establishment has a drive thru I am exponentially more likely to visit it. Do you have any idea how much of a pain it is to get four kids into a car, buckled appropriately, drive somewhere without mutiny breaking out, find a parking spot, get everyone from the car to the store without being killed, then complete a purchase? A five minute errand can take 45 minutes, easy. Longer if we are talking about food.
In the town where I live we have to purchase stickers for our garbage cans. These stickers are not cheap- more than $3 per sticker, and each can needs one. These stickers can be purchased at Jewel or Dominicks or City Hall (among other places- there are like 6 places). Not a big deal except when you have four kids and you need to go get stickers for the next day's trash collection. Then it is a big deal.
ONE store needs to have a drive thru for this. CVS or something. Somewhere where I do not have to load, unload, etc just for stickers.

A-freakin'-men! I have a list of places that need to be drive thru yet they aren't. My biggest is Subway as I crave one occassionally but not enough to haul 2 kids out of the car for it.
I only have one child but I still completely agree! And I can't imagine getting 4 in and out. Hope someone gets on that sticker drive thru.
This is a great topic. I only have two and they are older now, but I can't tell you the number of times I just wanted a GOOD cup of coffee or a couple of things at the grocery and dreamed of a drive thru. Stopping by from SITS, congrats on your day!
totally agree- a friend of mine recently turned me on to the (at first horrifying but then sort of brilliant) notion of using the fast food drive thru for a coffee or diet soda!! don't know how you do it! :)
I only have two kids (and at this point one of them drives), so I don't NEED drive-thru's anymore. But when they were small, oh-my-goodness, drive-thru's were essential. The dry cleaner, the pharmacy, the bank, and I'll never forget the day that my gas station got a credit card slot on the pump!
Happy SITS Day!
Amen amen! And I only have one to deal with!
Now if they could only get grocery stores to have a drive through....
Happy SITS Day!
My friend has enough trouble with this with her one boy, can't imagine it with 4!
I couldn't agree with you more. I too have 4 kids and it is such a pain to load and unload them for short store trips.
There needs to be more drive through's in the world especially at coffee shops in my neighborhood.
Congrats on your SITS day. Hope its wonderful
I totally agree. I so wish I could call in orders or place them on line and drive through to pick them up!
Happy SITS day!
I agree. Of course, my girls are now 15 and 21, so it's not much of a problem unless I have my 3 nephews with me (4, 6, and 8)...can you say nightmare? Of course, with 4 kids, you already know.
Happy SITS Day!
THE POST OFFICE...so many places really.
Yep...I totally agree with you! If we HAVE to do this kinda stuff...the city should make it easier to do it. Some states allow you to purchase this stuff through the mail...lol...wouldn't that be nice?
Oh gosh....can I relate. I used to try to do most my shopping when my husband was home....leaving the girls with him. But that didn't always work out because much of the time he was out at sea. My mother, bless her heart, didn't drive when we were young. There were 6 of us and she somehow managed to walk 5 blocks (and down a very busy street)with us in tow and not a single incident. Oh there was the occasional child dawdling or bathroom stop at the gas station, but through it all she had the patients of a saint and we managed to get to and from unscathed. LOL...
There is a Starbucks near my house that has a drive thru. I visit it so often that they know me now. Well....and they know me at McDonalds too. HA!

I have often thought about going to the Walgreens pharmacy drive-thru and asking if they would get me something from the store. With 18 month old twins, going to a store alone with them is terrifying. I will often go without things, to avoid shopping alone. Of course, the place that shouldn't have a drive-thru option for moms: Starbucks and other fast food. Ack!
LOL!! This is soo true! I love anything drive thru!
Blessings!
Yes, oh yes. I feel very strongly that the Post Office could so easily have a drive thru. I plan my errands based on the number of kids I have strapped in the back!
Enjoy your SITS day! :)
I would just give anything for a drive thru farmers market how said is that! OH and don't get me started on the jealousy that all the other areas have a a drive thru Starbucks but we were left out. : (
Happy Sits Day!
Pam
Totally with you on this! I used to think the same thing until I had kids. I need stamps for Christmas cards, but I soooo do not want to have to unbuckle kids and take them into a busy post office to get stamps. There are other places to buy stamps, but none with a drive thru that I can think of....
Happy SITS day!
Wow! You have 237 followers, that's excellent. Wish I could find that kind of support in the film community.
I do not have any children, so this wish to extend Drive Thrus to more than fast food and Rite Aide is a concept that has never occured to me, but good write up for a post.
Happy SITS Day!
Woot woot.........the grocery stores in my town actually let you shop on line now, someone shops for you, and you just drive up and it's waiting for you! So awesome!
stickers just to get your trashed picked up?? Tell me you do not have to go through that every week!
I have often thought about that at various places and I only have one kid. But I can't stand the begging for a new toy thing everywhere we go. A drive through would solve that.
My sentiments exactly. I've thought so many times that a place in my hood with a drive-thru that sells, diapers, formula, milk, juice, bread, and booze would make millions of dollars. Because I will do anything not to take my wees into a place of business, especially in colder months. The coats and the hats and the whining and keeping them from breaking things...gah.
Happy SITS Day!
I think about this all.the.time. My pharmacy has drive thru and I'm so tempted to ask them if they can also give me a gallon of milk or bottle of wine. I remember when we visited North Carolina years ago (before kids), the town had a Brew Thru and at the time I thought it was a wreckless idea. But now I think it's genius!!!
So true... I find it hard enough, and we only have one little one right now!
Stopping by from Sits. A nicely written observation about a inconvenient reality.
Sounds like a good idea...But until then can you not leave them in the car to just run in really quick? My parents used to do that to us, is that wrong nowadays?
