Now I take pictures of LittleDude almost every night when he nurses to sleep. One of these times it will be the last time that he snuggles to sleep and looks for my cuddles overnight. Soon one day, my milk will not be the thing that he needs to soothe his owies or mend his broken heart.
There of course are frustrations, when I want him to just go to bed.... to stop following me around, but he is my last little baby, so I am really trying to to focus on snuggling and enjoying every moment I can, because one time- it will be memories.
I love my little ones, and this is different, because I usually had delivered another baby by this time and had my time divided between a new baby and a three year old toddler.
Its hard not to have another baby, it is hard to know that this is my last snuggle bug, and I don't like it. Being a mother has been such a huge part of my life- leaving this stage is a struggle for me. What will it look like? Will I still be needed? Loved? How will we navigate this?
A huge part of me hopes that this is not my last baby, I don't feel done. My heart aches for more nursing time, for more baby-wearing time, for more singing, and feeling a baby move in my womb

She really is just a kid
Sunday, August 3, 2014
The kids have had to learn a lot of hard lessons about life since I was sick.
They have had to learn that sometimes even mothers get sick. That sometimes as much as we want them too things just don't go as planned. This summer has been great as I have not been sick much at all and have had lots of time to spend playing with kids and enjoying the summer.
A lot of times they are incredibly mature. They are compassionate and empathetic to everyone. Which, sometimes leads me to forget that they really are just little kids.
Then they do something that just reminds me that they really are just kids. Most recently, this was the ice cream truck.
All of their maturity in the world goes right out the window the second they hear the ice cream truck.
The fun of childhood is pretty great.

Mani Pedi time!
Sunday, November 3, 2013
Princess and I do not get a lot of time one on one. Well, I don't get a lot of time one on one with anyone.. except Scooter (aka little dude). So I make an effort to get out with them one on one. Last night was Princess's turn.
We went to get our nails done- I got a pedicure, a no chip manicure, and a brow wax. Princess had a manicure and a pedicure. It is amazing what cleaned up eyebrows do for you.
Our time was really relaxing we had a chance to chat and just be together. She picked cute colors for her nails and enjoyed getting pampered. They ladies were kind and so patient with her, she got cute designs put on her nails.
Typically, I get maybe 3 pedicures a year, and no manicures--they wear off to fast with my life, but after talking to a bunch of friends I decided to give the no chip one a go. It was a long process! But, I am happy with it. With normal manicures, already, less than 24 hours after getting it, it is already falling apart- this one looks good.
My kidney was really painful during this but it was so very worth it. I need to get a chance to hang out with my kids. I am their mother but I am also their friend. By spending one on one time with them, I can keep our relationship close and intact so they know they can come to me with anything. I will not stand in judgement- I will support them.
We had a good time, and next week its Stinky's turn, his choice: Chuck E Cheese.

I am kinda surprised it took this long

I am open about my pole dancing. It empowers me as well as makes is a fabulous workout.
A friend of my daughter is trying to stir up trouble with other kids and adults by telling them I pole and how inappropriate it is.
My daughter knows that it is not in appropriate and is fabulous - but I am sorry she is dealing with a kid who wants to stir the pot.
I am not surprised it is happening- I am surprised that its happening in this way- with a kid.
Which complicates things. If it were an adult- I could address it with her, discussing the full details of what I do versus the 'inappropriate' things.

Tea
Thursday, October 18, 2012
When I was little my mom would invite our neighbor over for tea- daily it seemed- or we would go there.
While they talked, the neighbor's son and I would play.
I learned to love tea. I associate the warmth of tea with cozy, intimate friendships, that distance cannot impede.
When I was really little my mom gave me tea with milk and sugar. Then honey. Now I drink tea like she does- almost room temperature plain.
Tea will always make me feel closer to my mom. I like that feeling. At the moment there are two mugs (empty) sitting next to me- and those are only the cups I have not put in the sink today.
Even though there are times I would have thrown the mugs at my mom rather than sit and have a cup of tea with her, I am really so thankful I have those memories with her.
I hope I can foster that kind of relationship with my kids (maybe without the tea throwing part).

Holiday Cards
Saturday, October 22, 2011
This year I am going to buck my holiday tradition and attempt to join the responsible grown-up world and send out , ideally before the holidays.
In years past, I have started with the best intentions and purchased cards, even signed them, but actually mailing them? Not something that happened. Apparently the walk to the mailbox is a lot farther than it appears.
This year, Shutterfly is spurring me on a bit. They invited me to take a look at their cards and tell my readers about them, and then give me 3 codes to give to readers for 25 free cards. YAY!
...and I have not had photos taken of the kids in a year....(I will schedule this, I swear)...
Ok, so I started looking. There are a lot of ! One big issue for me is that I have friends and family who are not religious and sending a religious-y card to them is weird to me, so that eliminated a lot of the cards. Then I needed a card that either has 5 photos on it or one photo- though this may vary depending on how pictures turn out- but I started with that.
I really liked this one:
I also liked:

Maybe I'll even feel really ambitious and make a photobook for the grandparents or something, I made one once- a few years ago- for my grandmother and she loved it!
So.... first three commenters who have an email associated with their profile, or leave it for me will each get a code for 25 free cards... ready set.... go.
